The idea for this card came to me the moment I spotted this stamp and die set in the catalogue. It took a little bit longer for me to find the perfect Designer Series Paper but I think I have done it. I hope you agree that this cute card will suit any age or gender.

Directions

Make the Card Base

Cut a piece of Night of Navy card stock 10.5cm x 13.3cm (4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″) and set asside.

Die cut the largest pocket from the Pocket Thought Die set out of a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper pack. To alter the die cut, create a new score line 1.2cm (1/2″) above each of the diagonal edges on the bottom corners. Fold along the new and existing score lines and burnish. If you are using any paper or card stock that is thicker patterned paper you may need to trim out some of the bulk created in the new fold. See shaded area in the center photograph below. Unfold and lay flat to decorate.

Using a white gel pen draw two layers of stitching along all sides of the pocket to mimic a blue jean pocket. To make it easier to draw the inside line of stitching I used my Paper Trimmer. To do this, line up the edge of your pocket to the 1/4″ line to the right of the cutting track. Draw the dashes using the cutting track to get them straight. You may need to darken them a bit once you take them off of the trimmer. My gel pen has a shallow point so the marks had to be darkened.

I used a makeshift stencil to draw around for the center design. You can use a jar lid for curved lines or make your lines straight by using a piece of card stock to get the ‘V’ shape. I Googled ‘blue jean pockets’ and found an amazing number of designs that have been used on pockets over the years.

Center your pocket on the card base and glue down. I used multipurpose liquid glue but you can also use other adhesives such as double sided tape or Stampin’ Seal. To complete the pocket I placed an Industrial Trinket at each of the upper corners adhering them with Mini Glue Dots.

Make the Tag

Cut a rectangle of white card stock 7.8cm x 11.3cm (3″ x 4-3/8″).

Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper 7.4cm x 10.3cm (2-7/8 x 4″). Glue to the bottom half of the white card stock. If desired cut off the upper points for a more traditional tag shape or if you owned one of the awesome tag topper punches this would be an excellent place to use it instead of the plain or angled top.

Stamp your greeting onto a scrap of white card stock with the Night of Navy Ink. I used the border stamp and greeting from Labeled With Love Photopolymer stamp set. Die cut or punch the label with the matching punch/die. Place dimensionals on the back of the greeting and adhere to the center of the Designer Series Paper.

To finish the tag, punch a small hole or make a slit to thread the ribbon through. Alternatively you can fold the ribbon in half and staple to the top of the tag.
