It has been a bit of a journey to bring you this tutorial. It is a compilation of methods of many videos. Most of them were six to seven years old, the most recent being two years ago. You know me, two years? Bah! It’s time to bring it back! Hopefully the changes I incorporated will make it a little easier to make. It has a lot of steps but each of the steps is not difficult. So come on, what have you got to loose? Let’s do this!

Directions
Cut the pieces
Cut a card base out of Berry Burst Card Stock, 21cm x 14.85cm (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″). Score at 5.25 (2-1/8″). Fold and burnish along score line. To complete the gate fold, bring the other edge of the card stock to meet the center formed by the edge of your first fold. This will ensure that both sides meet smoothly in the center. If you have had good luck with double scoring you can score 5.24 (2-1/8″) on each side then fold and burnish.
On this card base, make a small mark at the top of the center of the area between the score lines. This line should be around the half way point of the entire card, 10.5cm (4-1/4), however this may have shifted so the easiest way to get the mark in it to fold in the side your originally scored and us the edge of the card stock to find the center.
You will need a center section for the inside of your card. The example is cut from basic white and measures 7.6cm x 17.45 (3″ x 6-1/2″). With the long side against the top of your paper trimmer/score board score 1.3cm (1/2″) from each edge, fold and burnish. To help you align the pieces later, mark a light line vertically at the half way mark, 3.8cm (1-1/2″) on the top and bottom. Mark a second line horizontally at half way, 8.7 (3-1/4) on the right and left sides.
To create a decorative layer over the white card stock, cut a piece of Designer Series Paper 7.1cm x 14.3cm (2-7/8″ x 5-3/8″).
For the shutter pieces cut two pieces of Berry Burst Card Stock 9.5cm x 8.9cm (4″ x 3-1/2″). With the 9.5 (4″) side along the top of your trimmer/scorer score a line at 1.3 (1/2″) on each piece.
For the exterior panels cut two pieces of basic white card stock, 5cm x 14.3cm (2″ X 5-3/8″).
Cut two pieces of Designer Series Paper to layer over the white, 4.5cm x 13.9cm (1-7/8″ x 5-1/4″).
The front greeting base layer is basic white card stock, cut to 6.3cm x 10.9cm (2-1/2″ x 4-1/4″).
The second layer of the greeting is cut from Designer Series Paper, 5.8cm x 9.4cm (2-1/4″ x 4″).
Die cut the greeting letters using the Wanted to Say Die set. The letters are cut from a scrap of Petunia Pop and the letter backing is cut from basic white.
Prepare the Pieces for Assembly
For the inside center piece, place the Designer Series Paper over the white card stock, adhere down leaving a narrow equal border all of the way around. Your vertical and horizontal marks should still be visible.
Align a 2-1/2 circle die or punch to the middle of the center piece. The marks you made on the white card base will be helpful here. Save this circle piece to be stamped on and placed under the shutter. Stamp a greeting or image on the center of this left over circle. This will be your shutter focus point.
On the back side of one of your shutter pieces mark a line toward the center at the half way points vertically and horizontally to find the the inside shutter point. On the 8.9cm (3-1/2″) side mark at 4.5 (1-3/4″) and on the 9.5cm (4″) side mark at 4.7cm (2″). Once you find this center point draw a line down to each corner. (See photo) Cut along the line creating a flag shape. Using this side as a template cut out the other shutter piece to match.
For the two white exterior panels, 5cm x 14.3cm (2″ X 5-3/8″), layer a piece of the Designer Series Paper, 4.5cm x 13.9cm (1-7/8″ x 5-1/4″) on top of each one leaving an equal border all the way around.
For the exterior greeting layer the Designer Series Paper piece, 5.8cm x 9.4cm (2-1/4″ x 4″) on top of the basic white card stock piece, cut to 6.3cm x 10.9cm (2-1/2″ x 4-1/4″). Glue the Petunia Pop letters onto the white letter backing. Place mini-dimensionals on the back of the die cut greeting and place onto the DSP slightly high leaving room for a ribbon bow.
Assemble the Card
Glue the exterior white and DSP panels to each side of the front of the card base.
Place Tear and Tape on each flap (top and bottom) of the white and DSP center piece. (See Photo) Remove the backing from the top flap only. Matching up the centering marks adhere the panel so it is even with the top of the center of the card. Move the flap up and out of the way for the moment.
Place Tear and Tape on the 1.3cm (1/2″) flap of each of the shutter pieces. Unfold the flap and align the edge with the score line on your card base. Also pull down the center piece and check that the center point of the cut out triangle is even with the horizontal mark on your center piece. (see photo) Remove the backing from the tape and close the card. This will stick the shutter piece to the side panel. Re-fold the flap and be sure the crease is sharp. Repeat on the other side.
One side of the shutter will lay on top of the other side. Before adhering the center panel be sure to open and close the card several time to make sure the shutter points are not getting stuck.
Once you are happy with the shutter action, open the card up all of the way. Slide your stamped focal piece underneath the shutter pieces and glue to the back of the card so that the greeting is centered when the shutter is open. This circle will not necessarily line up with the cut out space to be sure to wait until the shutter is finished before gluing the greeting down.
Remove the tape from the bottom flap of the center piece and adhere to the bottom of the card.
Fold the card closed and adhere your focal point to the left side of the gate fold.
Tie a bow with the 3/8″ ribbon and place near the bottom of the focal piece. Add a few sparkle gems and you are finished!
