This fun fold card is elegant and surprisingly easy to make. The object is to create a card filled with gentle colors and images but not be boring. The Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper gave me the perfect color palate. The promise of spring is depicted with the image of a birds nest full of eggs. The bit of twine for interaction to open the card also brings promise. Put it all together for a card that will hopefully have your recipient saying “Oh! Look at this!”
This lovely card design comes from the amazing Terri Walker of Nutz About Stamping (www.nutzaboutstamping.com) I originally saw this video about two years ago and was reminded of it the other day, so I went searching for it. Here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vtVSg36RKs&ab_channel=TerriWalker. I know other talented demonstrators have put out amazing versions of this fun fold, I suggest doing a search for fun folds on YouTube for an afternoon of watching great videos.

Directions
Card Base:
Cut a piece of Petal Pink card stock to 21cm x 11cm (8-1/4″ x 4-1/4″). Score the card stock at 7cm (5-1/2″). Fold and burnish.
Cut two pieces of Flight & Airy Designer Seriers Paper for the front flap 10.5 x 6.5cm (4″ x 2-1/2). One of these pieces will be placed on the front flap and the other will be placed on the back side of the front flap. Be sure to leave an equal amount of Petal Pink card stock showing all the way around.
For the ‘right’ side of the card base cut a coordinating piece of Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper, 13.5 x 10.5 (5-1/4 x 4″). Glue to the right side of the card leaving an equal border of Petal Pink all the way around.
Mini Card
Using the Petal Pink card stock cut a rectangle 20.5cm x 7.5 cm (3″ x 8″). Score half way at 10.25 (4″), fold and burnish. This mini card will be turned ‘backwards’ with it’s fold on the right side.
For the inside of the mini card cut a liner 9.7cm x 7cm (3-3/4″ x 2-3/4″). I stamped a greeting on this liner before I glued it in place leaving an equal border of Petal pink showing all the way around.
The outside of the mini card is decorated with a first layer of coordinating Flight & Airy Designer Series paper cut to 9.7cm x 7cm (3-3/4″ x 2-3/4″). Glue to the front of the mini card leaving an equal border of pink all the way around.
For the next step, cut two pieces of Baker’s Twine one approximately 40cm (16″) and the other a bit shorter at about 27cm (10-1/2″). Set this aside for a moment. (I always leave my self plenty of twine as I am not the best ‘tie-er of bows’ you may not need pieces of twine this long.)
The final layer is cut from basic white card stock, 9.3cm x 6.5cm (3-1/2″ x 2-1/2″) and stamped with the nest image from the Everyday Details Cling Stamp Set. I lightly colored the eggs with the Balmy Blue Color Pencil (from Color Pencil Assort. 2). In the next step, I ‘flicked’ tiny ink dots from the Bronze Stampin Blend marker. I further decorated this layer with one of the Pecan Pie Opaque Faceted Gems.
Before placing this layer down, affix one end of the shorter piece of twine to the space that will be covered by the this top layer. The twine will run off the card to the left and will be used at the end to tie the card closed. Raise this layer up on Stampin Dimensionals.
Using a glue dot affix the longer piece of twine to the back side of the mini card. Flip the mini card over being sure the tail of the twine is loose and trailing off the mini card to the right. Adhere the mini card to the center of the right side of the card base.
Fold the card closed by first folding inwards the front left flap of the card base and then folding the top of the mini card over that left flap.
Pull the twine to the right and wrap it under the card base coming up on the other side. Using the piece of twine affixed to the front of the mini card tie the card closed with a small bow.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and will give this card a go. It is not only easy but a great way to show case Designer Series Papers. The Light & Airy paper is a Sale-A-Bration paper that I got free when I ordered the stamp and die set, as are the Opaque Faceted Gems. If you do make this card or your version of it please post a picture below or post on social media and tag me @loriothen. Happy crafting!
